On Tuesday, January 3, 2017 during their regular training meeting, Sublette County Unified Fire formally appointed Spencer Hartman as the new Battalion Chief for Battalion 1 - Pinedale. Fire Chief Shad Cooper explained, "Battalion Chiefs provide primary supervision for each of the six response areas in the county. As a Battalion Chief, Spencer Hartman will be responsible to ensure the Battalion 1 - Pinedale fire station is prepared to respond to emergency incidents in Sublette County".

The Battalion Chief position in Pinedale has been vacant for some time. "We have been waiting for the right person who is capable and fully qualified to fill this critical position: Cooper explained, "Chief Hartman has already displayed exceptional leadership in his role as a company officer. His new responsibilities as a Battalion Chief will greatly enhance the capabilities and preparedness of our organization."
