July 22, 2018:
Surly Pika Adventure Race in Pinedale

Sunday

Part of the Wind River Mountain Festival in Pinedale. Race is on Sunday. Teams of 2-3 will receive maps with pre-plotted checkpoints. Teams will make their way by bike, foot and boat through the course to find checkpoints. Routes are not predetermined. Racers will chose their own way from checkpoint to checkpoint. The race starts at Elkhart Park at 8AM. Brealfast at White Pine at 6:30AM, mandatory pre-race meeting at 7:30AM. Finish by 4PM at Lakeside Lodge. Late racers will get a scoring penalty. Awards ceremony at 5PM. Online registration closes Thursday, July 20. Booth registration at Wind River Mountain Festival. Last chance registration Saturday, July 21 at booth from 3-6PM. 20: "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up" - Milk and Cookies Art Reception 4:30 - 6PM in the Pinedale Library gallery area. First graders of Pinedale Elementary are creating a companion display for our gallery space with art themed “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up." A collaboration with Pinedale Elementary School and with special thanks to the first grade teachers (especially Jennifer Hayward), PES librarian Grey Schouboe, and art teacher Christie Anspach, this is a drop-in reception for parents and friends to come see the children's artwork, tour the Smithsonian exhibit, and eat some treats.

During the early days of World War II, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Adolf Hitler or fight on against incredible odds. 26: Pinedale Anticline Annual Planning Meetings in Pinedale From 8:30AM to 5PM in the BLM Pinedale Field Office. This is a combined Pinedale Anticline Project Area wildlife, air, water and operator planning meetings. The morning sessions, from 8:30AM to noon, is the annual wildlife planning meeting. Topics include required wildlife monitoring and summaries relating to the Sublette Mule Deer Mitigation project. The afternoon session, from 1-5PM is the annual air, water and ooperator meeting. Topics include socioeconomics, air quality, water quality/monitoring, reclamation and operator development projections and reports. The meetings are open to the public. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments.

1: Forest Service trail maintenance information meeting Volunteers and interested people are invited to either the Forest Supervisor's office in Jackson or the Pinedale Ranger District office from 1-3PM to learn more about how to become more involved in helping maintain trails on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The meeting will be broadcast live simultaneously at several Forest Service offices including Pinedale, Jackson, Lander, Cody, Laramie, Sheridan, Greybull and Buffalo. 3: JIO and PAPO Boards of Directors meetings TAt the Pinedale BLM Field Office. The PAPO Board meeting will take place from 8:30-10AM. The JIO Board will meet immediately after the PAPO meeting and is expected to conclude by 11:30AM. Each board will review proposed budgets for 2018 and receive updates on JIO/PAPO website maintenance and progress on active projects. The PAPO Board will make decision on fuding each of five new 2018 mitigation project proposals that were submitted in February. The JIO Board will consider JIO Team proposals for new projects. 8: Town of Pinedale Municipal Election Filing for candidacy open from March 14 to April 27. Two Town Council and the Mayor positions up for vote this year. Council positions are Matt Murdock and Nylla Kunard, Mayor Bob Jones. Anyone wanting to file should submit an application to the Pinedale Town Clerk.
8: Hoback Ranches Property Owners Annual Election Electing one district director to the Hoback Ranches Service & Improvement District. Polling will be at the Bondurant School from 1PM to 6PM. Term of office is three years. Those interested in applying should file with William Conley, Chairman, or Bruce Bartley, District Secretary in person or mailed to HRSID, PO Box 33, Bondurant, WY 82922 between February 5 and 25 (must arrive by February 26, 2018). This election is a mail-ballot election. No sooner than 25 days before the election (April 6, 2018) and no later than 15 days before the election, ballots will be mailed out to qualified electors. 14: Cups4Cups Visit Pine Coffee Supply today and on the 14th of every month through 2018 to help support breast cancer programs across Wyoming. 15-17: Living History Days at the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale School children from around western Wyoming will be visiting to be with the American Mountain Men for hands-on history about the Rocky Mountain fur trade era of the early 1800s. 16: Evening Program: 'Daily Life of a Mountain Man' and Sublette Chamber of Commerce mixer Wednesday at 6PM at the Museum of the Mountain Man. Special evening program event. This is a free program for community members to learn about the ways of the Mountain Men. 12: 50th Anniversary Rededication of the Trappers Point Historical Site Monument 5 miles west of Pinedale at the junction of US 191 and the Cora Junction/East Green River Road, up on the hill south of the highway. 22: Surly Pika Adventure Race Part of the Wind River Mountain Festival in Pinedale. Race is on Sunday. Teams of 2-3 will receive maps with pre-plotted checkpoints. Teams will make their way by bike, foot and boat through the course to find checkpoints. Routes are not predetermined. Racers will chose their own way from checkpoint to checkpoint. The race starts at Elkhart Park at 8AM. Brealfast at White Pine at 6:30AM, mandatory pre-race meeting at 7:30AM. Finish by 4PM at Lakeside Lodge. Late racers will get a scoring penalty.
