Avalanche Watch in effect: Issued by the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center for the mountainous areas of northwest Wyoming including Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks due to a potent winter storm forecast to impact northwest Wyoming from Sunday night to Tuesday morning. Strong winds and heavy snow are expected to create dangerous avalanche conditions. Natural avalanche activity is likely and could become widespread. More info at

Weather Update, Sunday, Jan. 4, 10:00AM: Winter Storm Warning in effect from 5PM this afternoon to 5AM Tuesday. Light snow today will be replaced by periods of moderate to occasionally heavy snow with very strong winds tonight, lasting through Tuesday morning. 6 to 12 inches new snow accumulation possible near Bondurant, 12 to 18 inches in the western Wind River Mountains, with locally higher amounts possible. Gusty strong winds will combine with the snow to greatly reduce visibility at times. Roads will be slick and snow-packed with possible large drifts covering the roadways at times, making travel extremely hazardous.
