Civilian Handgun Training Course in Rock Springs

Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is offering Civilian Handgun Training Courses in Rock Springs between April and September, 2014.
Each course is divided into two blocks: a classroom session on a Thursday evening at the County Emergency Management training room in the basement of the county building at 731 C Street in Rock Springs, followed by a range session at the Sweetwater County Firearms Range Complex south of Rock Springs the following Saturday. (With the exception of the course in May, when the shoot will take place on Sunday, June 1, instead of Saturday, May 31.) The Thursday classroom sessions begin at 6:00 PM and run until 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Topics covered include grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control, holster considerations, home firearms storage, and above all, safety. There is a $30.00 charge for the course. Participants are required to supply a handgun, 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, and comfortable clothing appropriate for weather conditions. Water, snacks, a hat, sun block, and a sturdy belt and belt holster are strongly recommended.
