The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present The Portland Cello Project performing live Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. in the Pinedale Auditorium.
Since the groupís inception in 2007, The Portland Cello Project has wowed audiences all over the country with extravagant performances, everywhere from Prairie Home Companion, to that punk rock club in the part of town your grandma warns you not to go to after dark. The group has built a reputation mixing genres and blurring musical lines and perceptions wherever they go.
No two shows are alike, with a repertoire now numbering over 800 pieces of music you wouldn't normally hear coming out of a cello. The Cello Project's stage setup ranges from the very simple (4-6 cellos), to the all out epic (which has included 12 cellos playing with full choirs, winds, horns, and numerous percussion players).
On this tour, the Portland Cello Project will be performing songs from Bach, Brubeck and Beck as well as cello renditions of songs by Kanye West, Outkast, Radiohead and many others. They will be joined on stage by a vocalist and also a full backing band!
Ticket prices for the November 22 performance are $15 for adults and $7 for students (kids under the age of 5 are free). Tickets are on sale now at Rock Rabbit, Pine Street Floral & Gifts, The Cowboy Shop, Office Outlets, Isabel Jewelry, the Big Piney Library and at the door the night of the performance ($2 extra).
Portland Cello Project live in Pinedale is presented by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council with support in part from the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts which believes a great nation deserves great art, Sublette BOCES, SCSD #1, Western Sublette BOCES #9, the Western States Arts Federation, the Sublette County Recreation Board, the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation, The Sublette Community Foundation, Shell Rocky Mountain, Encana, Linn Energy, QEP Resources, Tegeler & Associates, Wyoming Community Foundation, and Ultra.
