Bridger-Teton National Forest advertisement for Broker is now available on the Web

JACKSON, WYOMING – The Bridger-Teton National Forest continues work on the process to convey 10-acres of the 15.325 acre North Cache Administrative Site located in downtown Jackson, Wyoming.

The Forest has advertised for Real Estate Brokerage Services at www.fbo.gov and is seeking a Request for Quotes which began April 8 and extending for 30-days.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest anticipates selecting the Real Estate Broker by June 1, 2013. The successful Broker will take responsibility to create market interest, locate potential buyers, and consummate a sale to the highest bidder. The sale is expected to be awarded by the end of 2013. "It isn’t just open to local Brokers," said Bridger-Teton Acting Forest Supervisor Cheryl Probert. "It is an opportunity for anyone who is interested," she said.

Typically, properties sold by the Forest Service are advertised on the General Services Administrative (GSA) website in an auction setting, where bidders can watch other bids. The land is then sold to the highest bidder. After market analysis for the Jackson property, the Bridger-Teton decided to place the property on the market represented by a Real Estate Broker. The Broker will represent the Forest Service, and will communicate with any and all potential buyers. "This is such a unique property, and an unprecedented conveyance project so as a Forest, we are very comfortable that soliciting a Broker is the right thing to do," said Probert.

The 10-acre North Cache Administration Site was previously scheduled to be sold directly to the Town of Jackson at an appraised value. The Town of Jackson withdrew from the sale on December 14, 2012 after the November Specific Purpose Excise Tax ballot did not pass.

Probert said the sale proceeds will be used to reconstruct facilities identified in the 2012 Jackson Administrative Site Land Conveyance and Development Decision Notice and other facility needs on the Bridger-Teton.
