Sublette artists invited to participate in ExSite-Cabochon medallion project
February 15, 2013

The Visual Art Council has an art composition open to local residents. The public is invited to create a design for a Cabochon Project. Details and entry form are available at the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce, PFAC, and Rock Rabbit in Pinedale.

In|Site:Ex|Site/Pinedale is excited to release a call for entry to Sublette County artists/individuals for 2 Cabochon Projects. Ex|Site:Cabochon is an annual artist designed medallion project. One artist per year (2 for 2013) will be chosen to design a 30h relief medallion, which will be produced in cast iron and permanently imbedded in a sidewalk(s) within the Pinedale community. The winning artist will receive a $500 honorarium for his or her design.

This opportunity is open to artists/individuals of all ages who are permanent residents of Sublette County. The selection process will be by official entry form, which includes a space for a black and white design concept and explanation. The committee will take into account that this is a preliminary design, and that it may be refined before final approval by the Visual Arts Committee (VAC) of the Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC). It should be noted, however, that a finished and professional design makes it easier for the committee to make a final decision for the winning design(s). The committee is also interested in how well the design is integrated with the unique round composition of this project. Please keep in mind that the finished installed casting will be viewed from all directions. The VAC will provide for the final approved design(s) to be translated into a 3D relief model, which will then be cast in iron. All applications become the property of the VAC/PFAC. We reserve the right to reproduce replicas/images for fundraising and marketing efforts to help support the In|Site:Ex|Site/Pinedale Public art program. All production materials, including but not limited, to sketches, drawings and patterns are the property of the VAC and PFAC. All decisions made by the VAC and PFAC are final. Entries are due 5pm, March 1, 2013 at the PFAC Office on 432 W. Pine Street, across from the Post Office in Pinedale.

In|Site:Ex|Site is the public arts program managed by the Visual Arts Committee of the Pinedale Fine Arts Council, in partnership with the Town of Pinedale.

In|Site:Ex|Site/Pinedale is a comprehensive public arts program placing temporary and permanent works of art throughout the community of Pinedale, Wyoming. The works are sited in both interior and exterior public spaces. This program aims to enhance our community through dialog, education, and visibility of contemporary visual art as it applies to our west central Wyoming community of Pinedale. These projects take the form of temporary and permanent sculptures, murals, installations, ephemeral art, exhibitions, and educational lectures. We have the ability to partner with public, private, and non--]profit organizations to realize their own public art visions. We strive to support Wyoming and Sublette County artists when possible, while also realizing the importance of having artwork that is within a national and international dialog. This not only enhances the stature of our public art programming, but also elevates the status of our Sublette County and Wyoming artists.
