WAS meeting Nov. 20th in Big Piney
Wyoming Archaeological Society
November 18, 2012
The Upper Green River Basin chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:00 PM in the Green River Valley Museum (back building) in Big Piney. Clint Gilchrist will give a presentation on the archaeology project done in August at the Lander Trail-New Fork River Crossing park which is being developed by the Sublette County Historical Society. The public and WAS members were invited to help professional archaeologists do more excavation work at the park. Items found include an old candlestick holder, a picket stake, a wagon staple, lots of bullets, lead slag used in bullet making, and percussion caps for guns. Everyone welcome. Refreshments will be served. Due to the holidays, there will not be a meeting in December. The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, January 15th, at the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale. Election of new officers (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer) will be held at that time. Membership dues for the new year will be due at that time.
