Sample Ballots
Sublette County Primary Election
by Pinedale Online!
August 13, 2012

We’ve posted sample ballots for those wanting to see what the ballots are going to look like for Sublette County for the Primary Election on Tuesday, August 21st. Note that the ballots are different by precinct and by whether you are registered as a Republican or Democrat – we are only showing 4 of the possible ballots.

A Candidate Forum will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Marbleton Senior Center, and on Tuesday, August 14th in the Library Lovatt Room. Both will be at 6:00PM focusing on the contested races for County Commissioner and legislative offices.

Democrat, Sublette County, except Daniel & Bondurant (House District 20)
Democrat, Daniel & Bondurant (House District 22)
Republican, Sublette County, except Daniel & Bondurant (House District 20)
Republican, Daniel & Bondurant (House District 22)

(Note: These are Sample ballots. The candidate names and order appearance may be different on the real ballots for the various precincts and how voters register for their political party preference, Republican or Democrat. Absentee ballots are available at the County Clerk's office for those who wish to vote early because they cannot be in their precinct location on election day.)

The Precinct Committee Man and Committee Woman races are different for each precinct and ballot. For a complete listing of precinct candidates for all parties and districts, click here: http://www.sublettewyo.com/DocumentCenter/Home/View/760
The only contested precinct race is the precinct committeeman race in Republican precinct 1-3, Pinedale West. A total of two men and two women will be elected for the two republican Pinedale precincts, 1-1 and 1-3.

Although most races require at least 25 valid write-ins of the same name in order to count, a precinct committeeman/woman race can be won by a single write-in name. Many people have won a precinct committeeman/woman slot in past years by simply writing in their own name, if the ballot showed "no candidate filed". The elected precinct committeemen and women form the governing body of the county political parties, and they are also the ones called upon to select three replacements candidates (and the county commissioners then narrow it down to one) to replace an elected office holder at the local level from their political party, when said person resigns or dies in mid-term.

Thank you to Bob Rule, KPIN 101.1 FM Radio for his contribution to this story.
