Sublette County Assessor resigns

The Sublette County Assessor, Janet L. Montgomery, tendered her resignation to the Sublette County Commissioners on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, effective March 31, 2012.
Since this is an elected position, the procedure to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term is spelled out in Wyoming State Statutes. The term expires on December 31, 2012. The person serving beyond this date will be elected in the November 2012 General Election.
Montgomery was nominated by the Republican Party, and therefore, the Republican Party will convene a meeting of the Sublette County Precinct Committeemen and Precinct Committeewomen for the purpose of interviewing applicants to fill the vacancy of Sublette County Assessor, and then vote to pick three candidates. The names of the three candidates will be turned in to the Sublette County Commissioners, and they, in turn, will pick one person from this list of three.
Walt Bousman, Chairman of the Sublette County Republican Party, has notified all Precinct Committeemen and women that the county Republican Central Committee will meet on Monday, February 20, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the County Commissioners Meeting Room in the Sublette County Courthouse in Pinedale to interview qualified candidates and vote to select the three which will be sent on to the County Commissioners. Bousman has requested that those wishing to be considered for Sublette County Assessor submit resumes to himself so that they will be received by no later than 5:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2012 (note date change). Bousman recommends that applicants call him to confirm that he has received their resume.
Joel Bousman, Chairman of the Board of Sublette County Commissioners, stated that the Commissioners plan to make the appointment of the new Sublette County Assessor at the regular meeting of the County Commissioners on February 21, 2012, if possible.
The County Assessor in Sublette County is a full-time position, and the current annual salary is $78,750.
