Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. is offering two free, interactive workshops in Pinedale and Casper for Wyoming teachers to explore energy resources. Encana is partnering with National Energy Education Development (NEED) to present the workshop curriculum and training opportunities.
The Pinedale workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Tuesday, October 4, and the Casper workshop will be held at the McMurry Training Center on Thursday, October 6. Registration for all K-12 teachers is now available online at www.need.org/calendar. Attendance is limited to 40 teachers per workshop.
"Itís essential that students learn how to use energy resources efficiently and to lessen environmental impacts from energy use," said Randy Teeuwen, Encana community relations advisor. "These workshops will provide teachers with innovative, engaging curriculum and useful tools to educate their students about our stateís energy and the importance of energy conservation."
All teachers attending the workshop are eligible for PTSB credits and will receive more than $500 worth of curriculum and hands-on teacher kits provided by Encana. The curriculum and kits explore the forms of energy and energy transformations, Wyoming energy sources, the natural gas process, energy conservation and how to integrate energy education into the classroom.
"All of NEEDís programs and activities are aligned to Wyoming state education standards," said Teeuwen. "We encourage all teachers to register for these valuable workshops."
Encanaís sponsorship also covers reimbursement to school districts for substitute costs, as well as breakfast and lunch for those participating in the workshop.
Please register for the Pinedale workshop by September 23, and for the Casper workshop by September 26. To register and view the workshop agendas, visit www.need.org/calendar, or call 800-875-5029 or 800-847-1820.
