PFAC announces Pinedale Mural Project - Call for Entries
$500 prize for winning entry for Pinedale Properties building mural
by Pinedale Fine Arts Council
March 13, 2011
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) is excited to announce a call for entries for the Pinedale Properties Mural Project to be located on the west end of the Pinedale Properties Building.
PFAC is now soliciting design ideas/concepts from the public. Anyone living in Sublette County is eligible and no mural experience is necessary.
The PFAC Visual Arts Committee (VAC) will choose the final design concept. Designs need not be a finished piece of artwork, as the VAC will be available to help develop and fine-tune the final design (for application to the wall) if necessary.
The execution of the mural will be with the help of community volunteers, under the guidance of the Visual Arts Committee. Work will begin in July, as weather allows.
$500 will be awarded to the individual who submits the winning design concept.
As far as design criteria is concerned, the VAC will consider the following in making the final decision for the design:
Appropriateness of the imagery in a public art context
Interesting use of the entire wall
Does the design reflect the flavor of our community at this point in time?
Submission requirements are a completed application, including a sketch of your design concept and a brief description.
Mural applications will be available for pickup at the Pinedale Town Hall and available as a PDF download at www.pinedalefinearts.com, and here: Mural Project Application (PDF)
You can either drop your application off at Pinedale Town Hall or mail it to:
PFAC Mural Project
PO Box 1586
Pinedale, WY 82941
Applications must be completed and received by Friday, April 29, 2011.
Window trim and wood fašade on the street end will be removed to accommodate the mural. The VAC retains the right to make all final decisions regarding this project. A joint copyright will be shared between the artist and the Pinedale Fine Arts Council.
Any VAC Committee member who applies for this project will be recused from the jury of applications.
