EnerCrest declares bankruptcy

EnerCrest Construction, Inc, has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. The Notice was filed on Wednesday, December 22, 2010.
The United States Bankruptcy Court in the District of Colorado has sent out notices to creditors of the filing and instructions on filing claims. Under the bankruptcy protection, creditors are prohibited from contacting the debtor or take action to try and collect on debts, obtain or repossess property from the debtor, start or continue a lawsuit or foreclosure, or other actions to collect money owed. The legal notice from the court states "there does not appear to be any property available to the trustee to pay creditors," and creditors are instructed not to file any claims with the court at this time.
There will be a meeting of creditors in the U.S. Custom House in Denver, Colorado on Friday, January 21st at 9:00 AM.
The company, based in Lakewood, Colorado, had an office in Big Piney, Wyoming. In March, 2010, the company closed five offices and laid off 225 workers. Offices closed were in Sibley, Louisiana; Rifle and Greeley, Colorado; Big Piney, Wyoming; and Williston, North Dakota.
In an article in the Pinedale Roundup newspaper on April 1, 2010, Enercrest Chief Development Officer, Todd Erickson, from the Big Piney office said the layoffs were due to the gloomy economic climate and struggling oil and gas industry over the past year. At that time, Erickson said the company did not intend to file for bankruptcy.
