PINEDALE - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is pleased to announce new fishing access available to anglers on the Green River west of Pinedale. The Sommers-Grindstone public fishing access area provides some five river miles of boat and foot access approximately four miles south of WY highway 191 along the East Green River Road. The new access adjoins the existing Huston public access area.

The land involved is all privately owned, but is made available through a conservation easement with the Sommers Ranch Partnership and the Grindstone Cattle Company. While the easement does allow both boat and foot-traffic fishing access, there are some specific regulations anglers need to be aware of:

- The foot access is only for a 20 foot wide strip along the entire five mile stretch east side of the river. Foot access is also made available on the west side of the river for approximately three miles. Anglers should refer to a map for specifics.

- The access is for fishing only. No hunting or possession of hunting equipment is allowed within the easement property.

- No dogs, pets, horses or other animals are allowed on lands within the easement.

- No motorized vehicles, bicycles, or other type of mechanical transportation on lands within the easement.

- No camping or fires are allowed on lands within the easement.

- Public access on or over the Sommers Bridge is prohibited.

- The easement is marked periodically with signs designating the easement boundary. It is the angler's responsibility to determine land and easement boundaries.

"The Green River offers some of the best trout fishing there is," said Ray Bredehoft, Pinedale Habitat and Access Supervisor for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. "We feel really fortunate to have acquired this fishing access and hope anglers enjoy it and respect the private property."

Interested anglers can pick up a brochure with a map of the easement at the Pinedale Regional Game and Fish office and most license-selling agents in Pinedale.
