Wyoming Southwest District Music Festival
Pinedale High School Music Department performs well

The Pinedale High School music department traveled to Evanston last Thursday and Friday (April 15 & 16) to participate in the annual Southwest Wyoming District Music Festival. While there, the concert band, concert choir, jazz band, jazz choir, small ensembles and numerous soloists performed for their judges.
The 63-piece concert band earned two (excellent) II ratings from their adjudicators. The jazz band also received two II ratings from their judges. Both bands had a half-hour clinic with adjudicator Doug Hopkins from Western Wyoming College working with each band. The bands other judge was Steve Traylor from Central Wyoming College in Riverton.
The Pinedale Choir did very well with the 53 voice Concert Choir receiving two II+ (excellent) ratings from their judges Judges for the concert choir were Robert Hussa from Central Wyoming College and Jill Carpenter from Green River. Their clinic was headed up by Mr. Hussa. The Jazz Choir also received two II+ ratings and were judged by the same two judges with Jill Carpenter doing their clinic.
Pinedale vocal had seven soloists and two ensembles performing on Friday. Vocal soloists receiving I (superior) ratings were Ashlee Anderson, Brindi McGinnis, Haley Gray, Madie Dugan, Shane Adams and Christina Silvey. Ashlee and Brindi both scored 34 out of 35 possible points. Soloist Sierra Cunningham received a II (excellent) rating on her vocal solo. The vocal ensembles also did really well with the duet of Christina Silvey and Kristyanne Brandewie receiving a I (superior) rating scoring 39 out of 40 possible points. The other vocal ensemble was the Women’s Quartet consisting of Ashlee Anderson, Anna Scheevel, Kaitlyn Sutherland and Christina Silvey and they received a I (superior) rating also. The vocal accompanist was Lynda Silvey.
Pinedale instrumental had three soloists performing on Friday. Bekah Knapp on clarinet received a I (superior) rating and Anna Scheevel on violin also receiving a I (superior) rating. Elisa Lowham played an oboe solo and received a II (excellent) rating. Elisa and Bekah were accompanied by Chris Cramer.
The Pinedale vocal department is under the direction of Gena Anderson and the Pinedale instrumental department is under the direction of R. Craig Sheppard.
Come out and listen to these young musicians perform in their last concerts of the year on Tuesday April 27th (Jazz Concert), Tuesday May 4th (All Choirs Concert) and Monday May 10th (Spring All Bands Concert). These concerts start at 7PM in the Pinedale Auditorium and there will be no admission charged. Both the HS concert choir and HS concert band also will be performing at graduation Friday, May 28th.
