April 25, 2010
PINEDALE - The Upper Green River Basin Local Sage Grouse Working Group will hold their next meeting from 10:00AM-5:00 PM, Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Bureau of Land Management Office at 1625 West Pine Street in Pinedale, WY.
One topic of discussion will be consideration of minor modifications to outer boundaries of the current sage grouse "Core Areas". Governor Freudenthal's Statewide Sage Grouse Implementation Team has been assigned to evaluate and revise the current Core Area boundaries as appropriate using specific biological and land use (development) sideboards. The Implementation Team has requested local input via the Local Sage Grouse Working Groups. The core area discussion is scheduled to take place from 10:00AM to noon.
Also of note will be a discussion on the results of recently completed research regarding ravens in the Pinedale area. That discussion will take place from 2:00-3:30PM. For more detailed information on the meeting contact Jennifer Hayward at 307-367-2257 x110. All local working group meetings are open to the public.
The group is one of seven local working groups that were formed across the state. The group comprises nine local citizens representing groups interested in sage grouse conservation. The role of the group is to develop and set in motion local conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, whenever feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.
