GRVLT, CLIMB and EnCana form partnership
by Green River Valley Land Trust
January 9, 2009

(Pinedale) – EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. partnered with the Green River Valley Land Trust (GRVLT) and CLIMB Wyoming by donating $8,000 to train a CLIMB Wyoming candidate to become a staff member for GRVLT.

"This unique partnership allows the Green River Valley Land Trust to gain additional help while providing a job opportunity to a CLIMB Wyoming candidate," said Randy Teeuwen, EnCana community relations advisor. "As a result, EnCana is able to increase awareness about the missions of both organizations and strengthen the communities in which we all work."

The EnCana donation will pay to train the CLIMB Wyoming candidate on DonorPerfect software as well as the GRVLT system and protocols. The CLIMB candidate will maintain and update a donor-tracking database.

"As a result, the GRVLT will track and study its donor and prospective donor relationships, and better tailor projects, programs, outreach and public education to the needs, interests and desires of the community," said Lara Ryan, GRVLT Executive Director. "Through this partnership, we hope to demonstrate that CLIMB provides a vital service to the community while showing Sublette County women that CLIMB exists and can provide a service to them."

The mission of the GRVLT is to assist area landowners to conserve agricultural, ranch and natural lands in order to sustain and protect open spaces, watersheds, wildlife habitat and other ecological values as a legacy for future generations. By working with more than 40 families nearly 24,000 acres of working ranchland, wildlife habitats and scenic views in Sublette County have been conserved.

CLIMB Wyoming is a nationally acclaimed training model for moving disadvantaged single mothers out of poverty. CLIMB graduates consistently double or triple their monthly income. To meet Wyoming’s workforce needs, CLIMB programs are helping women enter construction and energy trades as well as health care, office careers and more. The program has helped over 1,000 families reach self-sufficiency, the effects of which will be felt for generations.
