BLM realigns organizational structure
Pinedale Field Office to be combined with Rawlins, Kemmerer and Rock Springs into one district
by Bureau of Land Management
January 18, 2008

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently realigning its organizational structure in Wyoming.

The decision has been approved to move from the current two-tier structure to a three-tier organization with district offices added. The BLM has begun a nationwide effort to maximize efficiencies and increase capacity to do on-the-ground work with existing resources. This will help provide a more consistent structure between states, which will ultimately allow better service to the public. This would provide more quality control, as well as the opportunity to reduce duplication of services.

Three districts will be created:
Wyoming High Desert District: The Rock Springs, Rawlins, Kemmerer and Pinedale Field Offices will be incorporated into one district. The district office will be co-located in Rock Springs with the Rock Springs Field Office.

Wind River/Bighorn Basin District: The Worland, Cody and Lander Field Offices will be incorporated into one district. The district office will be co-located in Worland with the Worland Field Office.

Wyoming High Plains District: The Casper, Buffalo and Newcastle will be incorporated into this district. The district office will be co-located in Casper with the Casper Field Office.

“Our move to three-tier should be transparent and our constituents should not be adversely impacted or encounter any changes from how they currently conduct business with BLM Wyoming. They’ll still be dealing with the same on-the-ground employees that they are now at each field office,” said Wyoming State Director Bob Bennett.

The three-tier organization becomes effective on October 1, 2008.

BLM is committed to implementing this initiative in a manner that avoids adverse effects on employees and the public to the greatest extent possible, and will create a consistently structured state organization made up of a state office, district offices and field offices.
