Pinedale Book wins Best Non-Fiction Award
Wyoming State Historical Society Annual Awards
August 4, 2006

Local historian, Ann Noble, received word from the Wyoming State Historical Society (WSHS) that her book, “Pinedale, Wyoming: A Centennial History 1904-2004” was selected for the ‘Best Non-Fiction 2005” award in the Publications Awards in Society’s Annual Awards Program.

"The Wyoming State Historical Society congratulations you for your efforts in promoting Wyoming history. It is through the interest and energies of individuals such as you that a part of Wyoming’s unique heritage is saved," wrote Judy West, for the WSHS.

A certificate for the award will be presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday, September 9th.

"I'm very honored with this award and I'm looking forward to personally receiving it with my family in Sundance next month," said Noble.

Author Ann Noble was hired by the Sublette County Historical Society (SCHS)-Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale to write the book. The research and writing was expected to take two years. Due to the incredible amount of research required, it took a year longer than expected to research and write the book. Ann donated a full extra year of her time working on the book.

"We are absolutely thrilled for Ann! She has put so much time, hard work and love into this book - no one deserves this State Award more than she," said Laurie Hartwig, Director of the SCHS/Museum of the Mountain Man. "A project of this scope and magnitude couldn't be accomplished without help from numerous individuals, as well as the generous financial backing of Mrs. Sally Swift and Erivan and Helga Haub. This is truly a wonderful gift to the people of Pinedale, Sublette County and the State of Wyoming."

Sue Sommers did the layout and design for the book through WRWS Design, a division of Wind River Web Services in Pinedale, parent company of this Pinedale Online website. The book was printed by Worzalla Publishing of Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

The 442-page, full-color book, is a limited edition, with only 2000 copies printed. Books are available to purchase in Pinedale at the Cowboy Shop, Faler’s General Store and Office Outlet (both Pinedale and Big Piney stores). Cost is $65 each, plus tax. Books can be ordered online through the Trading Post on the Museum of the Mountain Man’s website, www.museumofthemountainman.com. Museum members can take advantage of their 10% member discount by ordering the book through the Museum. All proceeds from the book sales go to benefit the Museum.
