Call for nominations for PAWG
Pinedale Anticline Working Group
April 9, 2006

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking nominations for membership to the Pinedale Anticline Working Group (PAWG) as part of the Adaptive Environmental Management program for the Pinedale Anticline Project Area in southwestern Wyoming. The Call for Nominations was published in the April 6, 2006 Federal Register (WY-100-06-1610-DJ)

The purpose of the PAWG and Task Groups is to develop recommendations and provide advice to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on matters pertinent to the oil and gas development of the Pinedale Anticline area, as described in the Pinedale Anticline Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD). The Pinedale Anticline is an area of west central Wyoming, south of the town of Pinedale. It includes about 200,000 acres of rolling sagebrush covered lands that are about 80 percent federally managed surface and 83 percent federally managed minerals.

All nominations should be postmarked by 45 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register, making the deadline May 20th. Final appointments will be made by the Secretary of the Interior.

Nominations should be sent to Matt Anderson, Pinedale Anticline Working Group and Task Groups Coordination, Bureau of Land Management, Pinedale Field Office, 432 East Mill Street, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, WY 82941.

On August 13, 2004, the Secretary of Interior renewed the Charter for the PAWG and Task Groups. Current members of the PAWG are coming up on the end of their 2-year appointments. One member representing the public-at-large and one member representing Sublette County resigned. Recommendations for those two positions have been made and forwarded to the Secretary of the Interior’s office for selection. The BLM is now initiating the process to select 7 of the 9 memberships of the PAWG. Interested groups, governmental agencies, and local interests will be given the opportunity to be represented, including previous PAWG members.

Members will be selected to represent the following: Public-at-large, State of Wyoming, ranching community, land owners, environmental community, Town of Pinedale, and oil and gas operators.

All members should have demonstrated an ability to analyze and interpret data and information, evaluate proposals, identify problems and promote the uses of collaborative management techniques such as long-term planning, management across jurisdictional boundaries, data sharing, information exchange and partnerships.
