Men’s and Women’s teams both runner-up

The Pinedale Alpine Ski Team wrapped up a very successful ski season with a great showing at the Alpine State Meet in Jackson Hole this past Friday and Saturday, March 6 & 7, 2026.
Both the men’s and women’s team came in a very close state runner up. The women’s team took second by only 14 points and the men’s by 28.
Garret Saunders was able to take a silver medal in the men’s slalom. Roxy Melinkovich took a bronze in the women’s slalom. Dune McCartney took a bronze in the men’s GS. Addison Davis was able to ski the third fastest runs both days, but finished just out of the top five with the combined times.
The whole team skied very well, with athletes finishing in
the top ten.
Coach Wohl said, "This was a very close competition. If we had had a few more girls who were eligible for the meet, or if we did not have some spills on the GS day, this team could easily have taken the state championships for the women. The men also were extremely close, finishing the first day only five points behind Jackson, but then we had a couple athletes who were skiing extremely fast but weren’t able to finish two run runs to get a final score. That’s how ski racing works though. Coach Dan Williams, Justin Wattsabaugh and myself are extremely proud of how hard this team has worked all year and how they continued to improve. They have come a long way from the early season when we hiked the hill and trained by headlamp after school at White Pine."
Nearly all of these athletes who competed at state for Pinedale have qualified to represent Team Wyoming at the Western High School Championships in Colorado in two weeks. It’ll be exciting to see them ski there.
We would like to really thank the White Pine Ski Area, the Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Association, and the many parents and businesses who have supported this ski team throughout the season.
