Wyoming’s Breezy Johnson wins Olympic Gold
In Women’s Downhill competition – 2026 Winter Olympics

Skier Breezy Johnson, who hails from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, took the Gold medal on Sunday, February 8th, in the Women’s Skiing Downhill Competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. This is her third time competing in the Olympics, also in 2018 and 2022. This was Team USA’s first medal of the Winter Olympics. Johnson, 30, is only the second American woman to win the Olympic Gold medal in Downhill Skiing, joining Lindsey Vonn who won in 2010.
The 2026 Winter Olympics are taking place Feb. 6–22, 2026. Wyoming’s Jaelin Kauf, from Alta, is competing on the women’s moguls team. She won a silver medal in the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing and was World Champion in 2025. Anna Gibson, from Jackson Hole, will make her Olympic debut in the first-ever Olympic Ski Mountaineering (SkiMo) competition.
