Downhill: White
Pine Ski Area White Pine Ski Area opens for the winter season around Thanksgiving and closes around Easter, depending on snow conditions. Lift lines are generally short and the slopes uncrowded at this family-friendly, intimate daytime ski resort. Rent or purchase alpine skis, poles, boots, and snowboards at White Pine Ski & Sport, the ski shop in the ground level of the ski lodge. A second ski shop, inside Two Rivers Emporium on Pinedale's main street, caters mainly to the nordic and backcountry skier. The ski area is closed Christmas Day so its employees can spend time with their families, but White Pine remains open the week of Christmas and for New Year's. At this time there is no night skiing available. Trail difficulty is approximately 25% beginner, 45% intermediate, and 30% advanced. Vertical drop is 1,100 feet. The highest elevation is 9,500 feet and the lowest is 8,400 feet. Most slopes are less than 30 degrees with no avalanche danger. The last few years have brought more black diamond trails, improvements to existing trails, and the "Competition" Olympic-styled launch and landing pad designed for ski jumping. Nordic skiers will enjoy the parking lot designated for access to cross country ski trails near the lodge. The Day Lodge is a spacious, sunny and comfortable facility with restrooms and food service.
